~

181

as ground observer on two flights. Heated hangar facilities

and aircraft oxygen were kindly provided by Col. A. H.

Uhault, Jr., Commander of Peterson Air Force Base. I am

extremely grateful to the friendly staff of the Air Weather
Service and National Weather Service installations at

Peterson Field and Colorado Springs for forecasting assis-

tance and other data support. The delegated authorities of

the states of Colorado and New Mexico kindly provided per-

mission to carry out our weather modification research over

areas under their jurisdiction. I would especially like to
thank Bill for his hospitality and his patience in intro-
ducing a neophyte to aircraft research operations. He was
the most important person in making this project successful
in his roles as pilot/seeding-decision-maker/aircraft

observer.
