JULY 10th---OPERATIONAL DAY #23: Visually, storms began forming
arour.d Soott and Lana counties around 1: 00 p, m, with two base
planes and the oloud top plane being-scrambled, Seeding began in
N, Lane County at 1: 17 p.IO, and in N, Scott County at 1: 42 . p, ro.
Storm movements were to the ESE. By 2:06 p,m, the storms in Lane
and Scott County were weak in comparison to a new, strong hail-
bearing storm complex over SE Logan and SVI Gave counties. Seeding
began in that area at 2:07 p.m,: two base planes and the cloud top
plane (at 2: 25 p. ro.) eventually worked the are.!l of stm'ms as it
moved into HE Scutt and NW Lane counties, Meanwhile, isolated
..terms fanned just south of Stanton County and A ",econd near
Syracuse: the third base plane launched at 2:27 p.m.

By :3 p. m. a new line 01 qui<;;kly int",l\sifying ",tonns had forlued
across Gove County, :SW across LalH~1 SCLltt, Wichita., Kearny and
Hamilton counties then further into Prowers County (Colorado).
Se...ding wile able Lu 1>0 moved to the 50uthern portions of Wichita
and Scott cDunties when the seeded storm in NE Scott and NV Lane
became 11on-h",i I-b6't", i ng. One bas8 aircraft began seeding along the
portion at that line of storms in SW Hamilton and 8E Prow!!!rs
counties that eventually moved into Stanton. Beeding in BE Prowers
County and NE Baca COlmty was perfonned for 35 )TIi nutes bet w~en :3: 16
p.m. and 4;05 P,lilo with 70 graIns at silver iodide burnEJd,

Soeding along the linG of storms continued over Kearny and
Finney counties as it pushed so\.\thwal-d. One cloud base plane and
a cloud top pla,ne wOI"ked another new area' of severe storms over
eastern G,-ant and western Haskell counties, howevt!I-, both ran out
of seeding agent and had to terminate their flights at 4:51 and
5: 013 p.Ill.. n::spectively. The other two cloud ba.se aircraft
similarly had to terminate for lack of seeding agent and/or
genel'ato!- malfunctit;lning at 5: 06 p, m, leaving subsequent new hail-
producing storms to go un~eoded in Haskell County thereafter. All
cloud. base aircraft became ail-btJrne aBain later, however, only a
short 13 minutes of seeding fOl-. rainfAll augmentation \"as performed
by one of tb~m in Haskell County from 6:14 p.m, to 6:27 p.m,

JULY l1th---OPERATIONAL DAY #24: One plane was initially sent to
check out weak new storm developm~nt near Greeley County at 1:43
p. m. A br~ef periud of I-ain augmentation seeding began at 2: 1.3
p,m. in N, Hamilton County for effect in Kearny, however, a strong,
new E-W oriented line of storms began fonuing further north. All
other aircre>.ft were soon sOI'ambled, Two base planes seeded E-W
along a slll...ll lin," of severe stor'ms north of Scott County and
followed the line through southern Scott into Finney County, the
third base plane seeded in SW Ham11ton-NW Stanton counties before
going north to seed .on a val'y intense storm that built in NW
Hallli 1 ton-,BE Gree ley 'Ind moved into SW Wichi ta - NW Kearny count ies.
The cloud top plalle was adversely affected by heavy cirrus blowoff
into possible seed~ng tra9ks and, therefore, was able to work only
briefly in Greeley and Wichita counties, The Greeley-Wichita stor~
was not able to be 6eeded propel-ly nor seeded by sufficient numbers
of aircraft prior to its collapse in southern Wichita and northern
Kearny counties, Seeding shifted into southern Sta.nton County
