Shortly, seeding was spread out fUt'ther west to in.;;lude
parts of Hamilton County so that Stanton County could be protected.
Fortunately, the two other cloud b~se planes got resupplied a~d
airborne at 8:52 p.m. and 8:57 p.m. Unfortunately, one of the
planes developed /'In electrical problem and had to land. Seeding
continued along the line of storms eastward from eastel-n Hamilton
County across most of Kearny County. New stonn development that
grew around the old line moved more southeasterly than before with
seeding continuing on J.t---rnostly over' eastern Grant and western
Haskell counties. Seeding ended at 11:23 p.m. as storms reached
the southern bo~der of H~skell County.

JULY 24t.h---OPERATIONAL DAY #31: This wa!3 a nighttime l'ai\'l.fall
stimulatitm attempt. Three cloud base aircraft wel'e sent up on
small cells beginning around 9: 47 p. In. There was the appearance of
some N-S organization of the cells, however, they did not develop
well beyond a certain point. A line of small cells over Greeley
and Wallace counties were seeded and held t068ther to produoe some
ra.infall as they Illoved no~therly out of the taq,et area through
Greeley and Wallace counties. The best cluster of cells to hold
together began north of Lakin and moved NE into SE Wichita and NW
Scott counties. THO planes worked i.t over the Modoc area in W.
Soott County befot'e terminating its seeding. Two base planes weT'e
then released to go back to their bases. The third plane was sent
to eastern ColO!'do foT' some brief seeding on a weak storm complex
moving towEu'd Gr~<eley County. However, that complex drifted NNB and
clipped the NW corner of Greeley and SW Wallace counties. Seeding
ended at 11:45 p.m., MDT.

Seeding was pel"formed 1n east-central Kiowa County (Colorado)
~1:39 p.m. to 11:48 p.m.; 28 erams of silver iodide were burned.

I

JULY 25th/20th---OPERATlONAL DAY #32/#33: This was another late
night-ear),y morn1 ng seeding operat ion specif ica lly to increase
rainfall. Relatively weak storms Were moving SE frow E. Colorado
toward W. Kansas. Two cloud base aircraft were ~ent out around 10
p.m., MDT, to meet an advancing storm. Upon arrival at the storm,
it ohanged course: first stalling out, then intensifying a little,
then moving E to ESE. One plane was sent back to its base, the
other began seeding it at 11: 28 p. m. in east-c8htra 1 Pr'owers County
(Colorado), near Holly. The storm became sluggish in it6 movement
once again; seeding eventu~lly ended in Colorado at 12:33 a.m. and
the plane was sent back to its base hl:l,ving seeded wi th 154 gl'B.rnS of
silVer iodide. Enroute to its base, the aircraft was re-directed to
a new SE-moving storm tracking across Cheyenne County (Colon.do)
toward Greeley County. Seeding VIas per-fanned in Colorado 1: 08 a. m.
to 1:39 a.m. in NW KiOWa County burning 124 grams of silver iodide.

The seeding ait'craft eventually ~an low on fuel and was
recalled; another cloud base plane had been scrambled earlier to
replace it. However, upon arrival at cloud base, tbe storm had
become much weaker; seeding was bt-ief---about 5 minutes between
