,

.

WES.N WEATHER CONSULTANTS, INC.

The 1988-89 winter season got off to a fast start in November with
precipitation amounts significantly above normal. However with
precipitation amounts in December lagging somewhat behind average, the
early half of the winter snow course readings throughout the area averaged
91% of normal on January I, 1989 and fell slightly to just under 85% of.
normal by February 1, 1989. With a few heavier snowfall events in
February, the snowpack increased to about 95% of average on March 1,
1989. March's weather activity increased somewhat, but the
precipitation amounts were significantly below normal leaving the
snow pack at only 83% of normal on April I, 1989 at the end of the
operation season.

During the period November I, 1988 - March 1, 1989, WESTERN WEATHER
CONSUL T ANTS, I NC. seeded twenty-f ive se lected weather events covering
portions of thirty-nine days. The operations for the Central Colorado
Mountains program totaled 1,572.75 hours of generator seeding time which
dispensed 9,370.0 grams of silver iodide.

The following table lists the individual seeding events and gives the
number of generators operated, the ski areas seeded, the total number of
seeding hours, the seeding rate, and the total output of silver iodide in
grams. This table is followed by a presentation of precipitation events to
seeding events. This presentation is provided for informational purposes
only; no Quantitative statistical evaluation of the seeding effects from
this program will be attempted. '
