-,

~ ~ ~

time. Additional heavy snowfall amounts during the remainder of
November and early December kept the snow pack in excess of the
operational seeding criteria. On January I, 1986, snowcourse reading in
the seeded area dropped below 150% of average and operational seeding
resumed through February 6, 1986.

The weather pattern this winter was basically characterized by extended
periods of heavy precipitation followed by prolonged periods of no
precipitation. This type of weather pattern, along with the additional
concerns for avalanche conditions, greatly limited the ability of the
program to prOVide seeding operations for many of the weather events
having precipitation augmentation potential.

During the period November 17, 1985 through February 24, 1986, WESTERN
WEATHER CONSUL T ANTS, INC. seeded five selected weather events
covering portions of seven days. The operations for the San Juan program
amounted to 200.25 hours of generator seeding time, which dispensed
1925.00 grams of si Iver iodide.

The following table lists the individual seeding events and gives the
number of generators operated, the total number of seeding hours, the
seeding rate, and the total output of silver iodide in grams. This table is
followed by a presentation of precipitation events to seeding events. This
presentation is provided for informational purposes only; no Quantitative
statistical evaluation of the seeding effects from this program will be
attempted.
