b. Map of the Area and tile Area Reasonably Ex;oected to be Effected

A map showing the primary and secondary areas to be effected is provided

t
"
,
l
!
i

as At tachment 1.

The operating area for the proposed research is relatively limited.

Seeding material releases will be from one of two silver iodide generators

yositioned near Hayden as shown on Attachment I. The primary study area is

the mountain barrier east of the generators, more specifically described as

a quadrangle drawn from the to,<o of Mad Creek east, north-eastward to l'alden,

south to Kremmling, west-northwestern to Phippsberg and back to Had Creek.

Seeding material release will be done only on those periods when the wind

flow and snow fallout trajectory favors the mountain sector where the sampling

and precipitation instruments are positioned. Observations of any extended

effects that might occur will be made over a much larger area, extending down-

wind to the Front Range between Frazier and Boulder.

'-

When aerial seeding is specified, silver iodide release will also be

upwind in westerly wind flow so as to target the same instrumentation network.

c. Description of how the Project will be Implemented and Carried Out

1. Office Location

Department of Atmospheric Science
Colorado State University
Fort Collins, Colorado 80523

Phone: (303) 491-8675

2. CSU Field Office

Near Somebero Stables
Steamboat Springs, Colorado

3. Weather Data Available

The data available at CSU include synoptic surface and upper

air charts, rawinsonde data from the NWS national network, daily

rawinsonde observations made at the project upper air station, Craig,
