DESCRIPTION OF OBJECTIVES OF PROJECT.

The experimental cloud seeding that will be undertaken
is a part of the Colorado River Augmentation Demonstration
Project (CRADP) which is being conducted by the Bureau of
Reclamation under PROJECT SKYWATER. The major objectives
of the CRADP are to, I} investigate and improve the capability
of cloud seeding to augment the flow of the Colorado River
system and 2) encourage the application of cloud seeding technology
when appropriate, in the Colorado River Basin.

B. DESCRIPTION OF THE TARGET AREA AND OTHER ARE.!IS EXPECTED
TO BE AFFECTED.

The experimental cloud seeding will be conducted to affect
the Grand Mesa region of Western Colorado (designated target) .
Extra-area affects are expected to be minimal and should be
limited to those areas adjacent to and downwind from the target
area up to a distance not exceeding 25 miles from the target.
The 8500 foot contour of the Western Grand Mesa area has been
accentuated on the map included as Appendix WM2-2. This target
area approximately encompasses the area bounded by TlSR2E
on the northwest, T9SR9lW on the northeast, T12SR9lW on the
southeast, and T13SR97W on the southwest. The region of possible
extra area affects is bounded by TlSR98W on the northwest,
T7WR89S on the northeast, T13SR89W on the southeast, and T15SR98W
on the southwest. This area has been accentuated by a solid
line on the map.
