expected severe storm growth did not materialize.
stimulation was performed from 8:05 p.m. until 8:15
patrolling of the cloud system continued until 8:30
flights were terminated.

Some
p.m.
p.m.

rainfall
Further
when all

JUNE 5th - OPERATIONAL DAY #18: One flight was initially scrambled
to fly to the secondary target area at the Hitch Ranch in the
Oklahoma Panhandle at 4:40 p.m.; a second at 5:10 p.m. An ENE-WSW
line of severe storms and developing storms had formed in the
Panhandle and movements were easterly to east-southeasterly. New
propagation of storms were to the north, back toward the target
area. Seeding for rain began at 5:38 p.m., however, by the time
seeding started, the new growth storms being affected was close to
Stevens County and would not affect the Hitch Ranch. At 5:52 p.m.
both the first and second planes up were west of 'Stevens County and
both began .seedh!'J fo:!:' hail suppression. '

Another large cluster of weak storms had moved near Hamilton
County by 5:46 p.m., very similar to those seen in late afternoon
the day before in the same area. All other planes were scrambled
earlier. Seeding began near Coolidge at 6:12 p.m.; two others
began seeding the same storm at 6:17 p.m. and a 4th at 6:22 p.m.
As the Stevens County storm exited that county, the two planes
seeding it diverted to the Hamilton-Grant-Kearny county area to
assist the others on what had become an extensive line of storms
north-to-south as it moved into and through Kearny and Grant
counties. The cloud top plane began seeding in the Ulysses area at
7:04 p.m. With the passage of time, seeding proceeded along the
easterly and southeasterly parts of the line into Finney and Grant
counties and further east into eastern Finney, Haskell and Gray
counties. Seeding was performed on the line system as it moved into
,and out of Ford County ending at 9:08 p.m.

JUNE 6th - OPERATIONAL DAY #19: An early morning frontal passage
produced an ENE-WSW line of storms moving into the extreme NE part
of the target area near' Lane County. Initially, one plane was
scrambled to check it out at 5:30 a.m. After examining the line
and doing no seeding, it returned to its ,base. By 7~20 ,a,mc the
line had pushed deeper to the southeast into' the target.' area,
however, one storm began intensifying to become severe (hail-
bearing) east of, Garden City and the line of cells extending
southwest across Grant and Stanton counties. One plane was
initially scrambled at 7:20 a.m., and three more at 7:40 a.m.
and the 5th at 7:48 a.m.

Seeding for hail was first performed north of Cimarron at 8:10
a.m. with a second joining in at 8:15 a.m. Two other cloud base
planes went further south on the line at the same time.

By 8:26 a.m. the cells being seeded for hail had decreased in
intensi ty and updrafts, so both seeding aircraft reverted to
rainfall stimulation. The cloud top plane began seeding at 8:36
a.m. at which time the line of storms along the frontal boundary
lay from near Spearville to the southwest near Montezuma. The first
