<br />South Platte Basin <br />The SWSI value (0.5) indicates that for April the basin water supplies were near nonnal. <br />Reservoir storage was 103% of nonnal at of the end of April. Storage levels in the major plains <br />reservoirs: Julesburg, North Sterling, and Prewitt are at 76% of capacity. Cumulative storage in <br />the major upper-basin reservoirs of Cheesman, Eleven Mile, Spinney, and Antero is at 66% of <br />capaci ty. <br /> <br />Arkansas Basin <br />SWSI value (-2.1) indicates that basin water supplies were below normal for April. Stream <br />flows at the gauging station near Portland was 391 cfs, as compared to the long-tenn average of <br />448 cfs. Storage in Turquoise, Twin Lakes, Pueblo, and John Martin reservoirs totaled 51 % of <br />nonnal at the end of April. <br /> <br />Rio Grande Basin <br />SWSI value (0.8) indicates that basin water supplies were near normal in April. May 1, 2004 <br />snowpack is 102% of normal. Storage in Platoro, Rio Grande, and Santa Maria reservoirs totaled <br />55% of nonnal at the end of April. Precipitation in Alamosa was above average at 1.05 inches <br />and temperatures ranged from 19 to 73 degrees. Snowstonns and cold temperatures brought the <br />early snowmelt to a halt at the beginning of April. <br /> <br />Gunnison Basin <br />The SWSI value (0.5) indicates that April basin water supplies for the Gunnison Basin were near <br />nonnal. Snowpack for May 1 was 77% of nonnal. April produced a lot of precipitation that <br />bolstered the snowpack. Storage in Taylor Park, Crawford, and Fruitland reservoirs totaled <br />129% of nonnal at of the end of April. <br /> <br />Colorado Basin <br />The SWSI value (-2.1) indicates that for April basin water supplies were below nonnal. The <br />May 1 snowpack is 55% of nonnal. Flow at the gauging station near Dotsero was 957 cfs, as <br />compared to the long-tenn average of 1,845 cfs. Storage in Green Mountain, Ruedi, and <br />Williams Fork reservoirs totaled 127% of average at the end of April. <br /> <br />Yampa/White Basin <br />The SWSI value (-3.1) indicates that water supplies were below normal for the end of April. <br />Precipitation for the Basin was 97% of average for the month. Snowpack for the Yampa is at <br />53% of nonnal. April brought near normal precipitation to the basin. <br /> <br />San Juan/Dolores Basin <br />The SWSI value (0.8) indicates that April water basin supplies were near nonnal. The NRCS <br />reported that May 1 snowpack is 85% of nonnal. Flow at the gauging station, Animas River <br />near Durango was 1,002 cfs, as compared to the long-term average of 779 cfs. Storage in <br />McPhee, Vallecito, and Lemon reservoir totaled 86% of nonnal the end of April. <br />
