<br />Arkansas Basin <br />SWSI values (-0.7) indicate that basin water supplies were slightly below normal in <br />December, although the SWSI may be overstating the actual conditions in this Basin. <br />Snowpack on January 1,2003 was 72% of average. Storage in Turquoise, Twin Lakes, <br />Pueblo, and John Martin reservoirs totaled 65% of average at the end of December. <br /> <br />Rio Grande Basin <br />SWSI values (-0.8) indicate that basin water supplies were slightly below normal in <br />December, although the SWSI may be overstating the actual conditions in this Basin. <br />Snowpack levels on January 1,2003 were 67% of average. Storage in Platoro, Rio <br />Grande, and Santa Maria reservoirs totaled 90% of average at the end of December. <br /> <br />Stream flow in the basin should be below average for the next few months. The NRCS is <br />forecasting 2003 runoff levels of 63 to 76 percent of average for key streams in the San <br />Luis Valley. <br /> <br />Gunnison Basin <br />The SWSI values (0.0) indicate that December basin water supplies for the Gunnison <br />Basin were near normal, although the SWSI may be overstating the actual conditions in <br />this Basin. January 1,2003 snowpack was 93% of average. Storage in Taylor Park, <br />Crawford, and Fruitland reservoirs totaled 62% of normal as of the end of December. <br /> <br />Colorado Basin <br />The SWSI values (-0.1) indicate that December basin water supplies were near normal, <br />although the SWSI may be overstating the actual conditions in this Basin. January 1, <br />2003 snowpack levels were 93% of average. Storage in Green Mountain, Ruedi, and <br />Williams Fork reservoirs totaled 41 % of average at the end of December. <br /> <br />YamDalWhite Basin <br />The SWSI values (-0.8) indicate that the December basin water supplies were slightly <br />below average, although the SWSI may be overstating the actual conditions in this Basin. <br />January 1, 2003 snowpack levels were 91 % of average. December brought one major <br />snowstorm to the basin, although it did little to increase the overall snowpack level. <br /> <br />San JuanlDolores Basin <br />The SWSI values (-0.7) indicate that December water basin supplies were slightly below <br />normal. January 1,2003 snowpack levels were 84% of average. Storage in McPhee, <br />Vallecito, and Lemon reservoirs totaled 56% of average. <br /> <br />Jack Bvers. Division of Water Resources. W ATF Vice-Chair <br />Jack explained that the stream flow levels for the S. Platte basin are less than last year; as <br />well as the Arkansas, and the Rio Grande. The Gunnison is better than last year. The <br />Colorado basin is below last year as well as the Yampa, while the San Juan basin is better <br />than last year. <br />
