Steven Stokes - Speciai Events Supervisor - City or i'Jorthgienn
At South Suburban Parks and Recreation we deal with five different water providers.
Each provider has their own different drought plans ranging from no restrictions with
Englewood Water to 30% reduction with Denver Water. If water restrictions are
enforced, we are trying to get the providers to do water budgeting giving us the ability
to manage where the water is applied. With athletic fields being in use for for the last 4
weeks and not much significant moisture, we have had to irrigate many of the fields.
Water conservation has always happened in our district. Before the drought became so
prevalent in 2002 we had an annual target of 20" of irrigation on all our parks. A 30%
reduction imposed by Denver Water will allow us a 14" average application in 2004.
With present field conditions being marginal at this time and the expected
water restrictions, I am forecasting very poor field conditions with bare dirt being the
norm by the end of the year.

Dave Brueggeman - South Suburban Parks and Recreation

Our water plan as of 4/12/04. if conditions don't improve or deteriorate, adjustments
may be made.

Our water budgets (gallons) are down this year +{- 5% in parks, 15% in parkways.
Our water comes from both surface water and deep aqUifers. In 'normal years'
this would be about 85{15%, in 'drought years' it may be more like 60{40%.

In order to maintain the quality of sports turf, we've implemented an aggressive turf
management plan.
Water budgets for parks have been established at 27 inches, per site, with one
exception; Redstone Park, our 46 acre community and sports park that has a budget of
38 inches. This is a sand based, high use facility. We use a combination of re-use
(treated effluent) and raw water to irrigate.

We have an aggregate average of 27 inches of water for 250 acres of parkway
landscape. We've implemented a number of procedures to maintain appearance quality
here as well.

No watering between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., anywhere in the community.

Jerry Hunter - Highlands Ranch Metro Districts, Parks, Recreation & Open Space

Re: your meeting today, please know that Dr. Reagan Waskom at CSU has offered
again this year to host a web site where every utility can post their drought
restrictions. Participation is voluntary and must be initiated by the utility. Dr. Waskom

7
