Impact Task Force Reports

Division of Wildlife
Marv Halstead. Wildlife
Ms. Halstead said there were no troublesome issues to report at the present time.
Robin Knox. Wildlife
Mr. Knox reported that the fish and elk were happy at this time, but there were still concerns with
the southeastern Colorado reservoir storage and the impacts it may have on wildlife.

Agriculture--
Jeff Tr anel. CSU
Mr. Tranel reported that we have had tremendous plant death since 2002 and with this year's early
summer freeze. He also commented that we had rapid weed growth this spring but that the July
heat killed much of the weeds. Mr. Tranel said unfortunately we have had very little new growth in
the grasses because of the July heat as well. He reported that the late frost hurt much of Colorado's
wheat crop, but that the corn crop is ok at the present time.

Bob Steger. Denver Water
There was not a report from Denver Water at this meeting.

Jack Bvers. Deputv State Engineer. DNR. W A TF Vice Chair
Mr. Byers summed up the meeting by saying he did not feel there was an immediate concern for a
next drought meeting. He stated that we should see how the conditions look by January and then
probably plan the next drought meeting at that time. Mr. Byers said the reservoirs are in so much
better shape than they were in the last three years. Additionally, he mentioned that he had not heard
of any municipalities thinking of setting new water restrictions, and that he had heard that even
Aurora had good water conditions now. Lastly, Mr. Byers stated he would let the W ATF Chair
person from CWCB set the next drought meeting.

Next Meeting

The next drought (Water Availability Task Force) meeting will be detennined later in the year and
announced by the Colorado Water Conservation Board.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:50 p.m.

-- Visual Presentations from the meeting can be seen on the CWCS Webpage, the
Conservation and Drought Planning Section, Colorado Drought Information at:

http://cwcb.state.co.us/owclDrought_Planning/Presentations/htm.
