Mr. Vander Horst reported streamflows were better than nonnal this water year due to the
snowpack received in the south and southwest corner of the state; however streamflows in general
have been below nonnal since June. The Gunnison Basin has had high stream flows, and is the
only one to have above nonnal flows in August. The Gunnison River flows are now running below
nonnal despite the SWSI levels. The Colorado Basin flows are at 66% of normal; the Yampa White
River is at 69% of nonnal for August and the Rio Grand is below nonnal. The San Juan Basin in
the southwest corner of the state has had high levels for this water year, and the flows are running at
99% of nonnal the end of summer but dropping now and the reservoir storage is good.

Colorado Water Supply Report

---The following is a brief water supply conditions update. (A complete supply update was
distributed at the meeting and appears on the CWCB webpage at www.cwcb.state.co.us)

South Platte Basin
SWSI value (+2.5) indicates that for August the basin water supplies were above nonnal. Reservoir
storage was 110% of nonnal at of the end of August. Storage levels in the major plains reservoirs:
Julesburg, North Sterling, and Prewitt are at 42% of capacity. Cumulative storage in the major
upper-basin reservoirs of Cheesman, Eleven Mile, Spinney, and Antero is at 89% of capacity.

Arkansas Basin
SWSI value (-1.0) indicates that basin water supplies were slightly below nonnal for August.
Stream flows at the gaging station near Portland were 582 cfs, as compared to the long-term average
of 954 cfs. Storage in Turquoise, Twin Lakes, Pueblo, and John Martin reservoirs totaled 71 % of
nonnal at the end of August.

Rio Grande Basin
SWSI value (-0.7) indicates that basin water supplies were near nonnal for August. At the end of
August storage in Platoro, Rio Grande, and Santa Maria reservoirs totaled 101 % of nonnal.
Precipitation in Alamosa was 1.59 inches, 0.40 inches above normal. The average monthly
temperature in Alamosa was 62.3 degrees, 0.2 degrees above normal.

Gunnison Basin
The SWSI value (-1.1) indicates that for August basin water supplies were slightly below nonnal.
Streamflows at the gaging station at Uncompahgre River near Ridgeway were 173 cfs, as compared
to the long-tenn average of 164 cfs.
