,>#-
,

.

..<

BEAVER PARK PROJECT, continued
CURRENT STATUS

The ditch company has been aware of the need to reduce the

seepage losses and has replaced 25,000 feet of pipeline laterals

since 1977. A consulting engineer was retained to evaluate the

feasibility of repairs to the main canals and structures of the

irrigation system. The feasibility study determined th~t up to

3,600 acre-feet of seepage could be saved by placing a concrete

lining in 24,000 feet of ditch and by making repairs to the inlet
of the storage reservoir and to the diversion dam.

PROPOSED PROJECT

The feasibility report recommends a three-phase repair program
to implement the water-saving measures over three years. These

measures would involve the lining of various segments of the
ditches,-bhe rehabilitation of the diversion dam headgates. and
the repairing of erosion damage to the inlet channel at Brush
Hollow Reservoir. The e~timated cost of construction over the

three-year period is $630,000. The e~timated benefits in increased
crop production are $180,000 per year, with an overall benefit-to-
cost ratio of 1.59:1. The repair program and the saving of 3,600
acre-feet of water will allow the return of up to 1,000 acres to

irrigation.

RECOMMENDATION

Water losses in the delivery ditches for Beaver Park system

are prohibitive. These losses increase each year and have already
taken 1,600 acres out of production. The proposed project will
4It eliminate these losses and benefit the Beaver Park area by providing

-2-

. -,.-".,.'-

'<:->:'i':~~-:"~ ;>-I~-: .<0, ~;'~~'- ~.~t~Lf{.~;J>i~?,~,>o:::,

. .
,-,-', ,-- - ,,-
': ,~i;~:i]~:~,~:~~:-i;~~{;j~~:~;. ,;,'"

'-'-,io';
~~ 1, % "'"t2~

--,,- '- -- ",<
-~. ~~;~,<-~~j;:;;;i:":,,~1;;_t:'~;_~~1i,~o,iA;;;j}:,~i::~
