Investigate, develop and evaluate alternative methods to
conservation tillage for controlling wind erosion to deter-
mine their effectiveness in reducing wind erosion and
maintaining the producer's income. The cropping systems
need to be observed from harvest of last year's crop to
harvest of current year crop. Alternatives might include
practices such as strips of tall grasses, wl.ndbreaks,
application of mulch on potato land after harvest, growing
a cover crop, application of water at appropriate time,
etc.
