When Denver created Its Public <br />Utility Commission (a predecessor of the Board of Water <br />Comm issioners), the Comm ission obtained filings. on <br />behalf of the City for Two Forks Reserv.oir. 7hese filings <br />were made with bOtfT the Department of Interior for a <br />federal right-of-way and with the State Engineer of <br />Colorado with respect to water rights. Itt 1931. a right-of- <br />way to utilize federal.lands for Two Forks Reservoir was <br />granted to the City by the Department of the Interior. The <br />Denver Water Department has decrees for the storage of <br />both South Platte and Colorado River water in Two Forks <br />Reservoir, <br />The Water Department and !he Water aOd Power <br /> <br /> <br />Resources Service (United States Bureau of -Reclamation) <br />have participated In a Cooperative effort for the planning <br />and the construction of the Two Forks Reservoir Project, <br />This effort culminated in a report entitled. .Upper South <br />Platte Unit - Field Draft FeasibilityReport" dated October <br />1974, The reservOir would serve to regulate the W8lenI Of <br />the South Platte River and also waters carried lathe South <br />Platte Basin .from the Boarlfsvarious projects In the <br />Colorado River Basin, Under this concept, the reservoir <br />would serve as a mufti-purpose project with municipal <br />water supply.r~tlo~, an<t power ll8f'!~nbenefits. <br />Physical ftl~and_ Flgures~. ,;:"" <br />Height, length and type of dam: 5SO feet high; 1636 feet <br />long: double curvature concrete arch <br />. ., . <br />.
