. extending the existing embankment. Extra storage is expected to
be used for Big T water for which the entity holds rights. The
extra water stored will be used for supplemental irrigation.

Hyannis Dam project

This project would be for a ro.ckfill dam with an impervious
core. The project is located in the Routt National Forest
approximately 25 miles south of Walden, Colorado. The dam would
be 80 feet high with a crest length of 300 feet and the reservoir
capacity would be 2000 acre-feet. Estimated cost is about
$800,000. The preliminary feasibility report has been submitted
by Rocky Mountain Consultants, Inc. and staff has written several
comments that need to be addressed.

City of Louisville Reservoir

The City of Louisville currently relies on Louisville
Reservoir for its winter water supply. The enlargement of Harper
Lake is one of the alternatives that Rocky Mountain Consultants
has recommend as the most feasible alternative for the extra
winter storage demand of the city.

.

The project would generally inclUde expansion of the present
earthfill embankment, relocation of existing laterals, pumping
station and an emergency overflow spillway designed for the
probable maximum flood. Total project cost will be about
$3,500,000. It is expected that the city will pay back their
indebtedness through revenues from water service charges, bond
assessment fees and tap fees.

Waneka Reservoir

.

A feasibility study for this project was prepared by Water
Resources Consultants, Inc. in 1981 and the project was on the
agenda for funding approval by the CWCB at the February, 1982,
meeting. However, the president of the Waneka Reservoir Company
requested that this project be tabled. The CWCB obliged this
request.

The Waneka Dam is located in the Western part of Lafayette
and is the only existing raw water facility for the city. The
dam was originally constructed about 1900 and is included in the
State Engineer's list of projects requiring rehabilitation. The
embankment consists of a horseshoe shaped earthfill embankment,
with two gated outlets and an emergency spillway. The
embankment, the outlet works and the spillway all need
rehabilitation and/or repairs.

.

In September, 1982, the company expressed its desire to now
have the project presented for CWCB funding. In the meantime,
the company has submitted their plans and specifications to the
State Engineer's office for approval.

NCI/gl

-3-
