<br />years, the town's present system caIl.not cope with present water demands. <br />The hydraulic capacity of the syste~ is limited by raw water quantity, <br />filter pumps, storage, and capacity of the distribution system. The <br />water quality is not in compliance with either the state or the federal <br />drinking water standards. Demands on the present inadequate system are <br />certain to increase. <br /> <br />CURRENT STATUS <br />On October 15, 1975, the town of Hayden submitted an application <br />to the Colorado Water Conservation Board for state assistance in the <br />construction of improvements to the existing water system. Subsequently, <br />the board and the town entered into a contract with Plateau Engineering, <br />Inc., to prepare a feasibility repott for improvements to the present <br />. water system. That report has now been completed and constitutes the <br />basis for the .recommendations contatned herein. <br /> <br />PROPOSED PROJZCT <br />Based on the present population of the town and the expected influx <br />of additional people in the area, the consultants recommended improve- <br />ments to the present water treatment plant '. to the pumping facilities, <br />to the distribution system and additional storage. <br />The cost.of the project is estimated at $600,000. The town of <br />Hayden has several outstanding bond issues, which ameunt to $351,000. <br />In addition, the financial resources of the.~own of Hayden are quite <br />limited; Preliminary contacts were made with the Economic Development <br />Administration of the Department of Commerce (2M), with the Farmers <br />Home Administrat.ion (FmHA), and with the Four Corners Regional conmdssi8n <br />for grants up to 50 Percent of the project cost. It appears that such <br />grants can be secured. A construction budget is proposed as follows: <br /> <br />-2- <br />
