<br />. <br /> <br />Under a Master Meter contract, Denver Water reads the contracting water district's <br />master meters and bills the district for wholesale water use. The district establishes its <br />own water rates and bills the individual customers. Denver Water maintains the master <br />meters but the district is responsible for master meter replacement and all district <br />distribution system operation and maintenance. Denver Water currently has 25 Master <br />Meter contracts serving approximately 69,000 accounts. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Changing Patterns of Use <br /> <br />t, <br /> <br />The pattern of water use is changing. Daily and hourly peaks are declining relative to <br />average demands, probably a result, in large measure, of increased use of automatic <br />sprinkler systems as well as Denver Water's conservation programs and education about <br />the value of water as a precious resource. This "smoothing" of demands has particular <br />implications for the treated water system because most facilities are sized to meet either <br />daily or hourly peaks. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />The daily load shape is driven largely by us<\ge patterns of singlecfamily residential <br />customers. Historically, the typical summer daily hydrograph had a single, large <br />afternoon peak, caused by outdoor watering demand, and a smaller morning peak. <br />Today, daily demands exhibit two fairly equally-sized peaks. The afternoon peak is lower <br />and early morning use is now much higher than has historically been the case.
