Project Goals The Colorado Water Development Study was initiated by the Colorado Farm Bureau to provide an overview of current and projected water resources conditions in the State of Colorado. The information provided in this study will assist the Colorado Fann Bureau, state water interests and the public in studying pro- posed Colorado water projects, prioritizing those projects, and formulating recommendations and strategies for funding and implementing preferred projects. This undertaking is intended to be a first step in identifying those projects which will be ben- eficial to the long,term interests of the citizens of Colorado, while protecting interstate water compact entitlements and the prior appropriation system. Scope of Work The contract scope of work included the following tasks. Task I ' Project Colorado Water Supply Needs and Water Uses for the Years 2050 and 2100 Task 2 - Prepare Overview of Existing Colorado Water Supply Task 3 - Inventory Water Development Agencies, Growth Pro, jections and Water Supply Projections Task 4 - Aggregate Water Supply Demands by State Water Di- VISIOns Task 5 - Inventory Proposed Alternative Water Development and Storage Projects Task 6 - Identify Projects on a Regional Basis Task 7 - Prepare Phase I Report Task 8 - Meetings and Project Management Project Authority This report was prepared by Montgomery Watson under a con- tract to the Colorado Farm Bureau dated April 25, 1996. 1-1 __ coloraoo .._ Farm Bureau
