.

.

.

After discussions with Soil Conservation Service (SCS) and the
engineer (Grand Junction Pipe) it was decided to use Water Specialties
meters tor the 4 inch and bigger meters (see addendum #7). It was
discovered after e\.'tensive research (irrigation companies, Colorado Water
Conservation Board, Engineer, SC,), that no company manufactures a I inch
Raw Water meter. The best choice was a meter manufactured
by Master Meter (see addendum #7). This was by far the biggest delay to
the project The metering, tapping and pipe installation took approximately
18 months to complete. Much time was taken to locate the existing utilities:
phone, water, sewer and gas. The utilities need to be removed, or at times
grade of pipeline changed due to existing utility, Sewer lines were often
encountered and the grade was unchangeable. The large amount of rock has
been a major slow down, The use of the trencher, however, saved bedding
and time, Another time consuming operation of this project has been retro
fitting existing sites with meters. This took almost 180 days due to the
plumbing involved with existing sites,

2
