There are many unknown factors that should be considered in
figuring "unaccounted for water loss", that is, water lost before
it is metered at the point of consumption.

-Water used by West Metro Fire Protection District for fire
fighting and training.
.Water used during the fire hydrant maintenance program.
-Water used to sanitize and flush newly installed mains.
-Water used to flush and clean the storage reservoirs.
-Water lost when a water main breaks.
-Water used by Jefferson County in street cleaning.

The District has not attempted to estimate the unknown factors
and have used the difference between purchased and billed water
to calculate the loss.

The standard that the Ken-Caryl Ranch Water and Sanitation
District would like to maintain is 10% or less, on an annual
basis.
