Delivery of raw water to the treatment plants is controlled by "calling" for water
to be released by Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District from Carter Lake. A
minimal amount of raw water can be held in existing backwash ponds and backwash
tanks.

3.3.2.2 Treated Water

Treated water is stored in the clear water well at each of the filter plants as well as in a
one million gallon tank and a five million-gallon tank located near the filter plantsat an
elevation of 5475 feet above mean sea level. In addition to this storage capacity, which
is shared with Central Weld County Water District, Little Thompson Water District also
operates three additional treated water storage facilities throughout the distribution
system (Table 3-1). An additional site owned by the District for a future tank is located
one half-mile north of Weld County Road (WCR) 38, near 1-25, at an elevation of 5150
feet.

I
I
I
I
I
I
I

b

1

T

W

0"

T t dW t S

F Tf

Ta Ie 3- . The
District has more than 61 miles of water line ten inches in diameter or larger, 219 miles
of six-inch and eight-inch diameter water line, and more than 175 miles of water line
four inches in diameter or smaller. In addition, more than 4500 copper, polyethylene,
and polybutylene service lines have been installed. The various types of main water
line installed have included steel, cast iron, ductile iron, transite, PVC and copper. The
larger diameter pipe is all joint pipe with gaskets, while most of the smaller water lines
(including some four- and six-inch diameter pipe) are glued joint pipe.

3-4
