<br />...... <br /> <br />onffiR GOVERNMENT (pUBLIC SECfOR) FACILITIES <br /> <br />Outdoor <br /> <br />- Implement and continually fine-tunc Landscape Design and <br />Maintenance Guidelines for the City arid County of Denver <br />in cooperation with the Department of Parks and Recreation, <br />the Department of Public Works, and the Planning and <br />Community Development Office. ' <br />- Offer training to decision-makers and practitioners <br />regarding more efficient landscape prnctices. <br />- Review and comment on designs for new City or bond- <br />financed projects as specified in the Mayor's Executive <br />Order No. 87 to encourage water conservation in design and <br />maintenance practices. . <br />-Urge installation of central computerized irrigation control <br />connected to a higher technology weather station for parks, <br />highway rights-of-way, and irrigatcq open spaces in the <br />Denver Water service area. <br />-Assist in developing efficient irrigation schedules which <br />have ~;le nexibility to shift for weather and other variables. <br />- Encourage a process of cost inc~ntives for landscape <br />irrigation. <br />-Develop an incentive plan for hig~ volume irrigators to <br />conserve. <br />-Seck funding to sponsor research in more efficient water <br />lIse. <br /> <br />-Transfer appropriate landscapes 10 irrigation by non- <br />potable water. <br />-Cooperate with the Denver Departmenl of Parks and <br />Recreation to jointly design and maintain a new Xeriscape <br />Park, studying water use and other maintenance issues for <br />10 years. <br /> <br />Indoor <br /> <br />-Urge the Denver Division of Public Office Buildings, the <br />Federal Gencral Services Administration, the State of <br />Colorado, and the county authorities within tbe Denver <br />Water service area to retrofit plumbing fixtures. <br />. Encourage managers of government buildings to implement <br />saving measures outlined in the 1991 non-residential water <br />use study. <br />- Assist public schools and public office buildings to adopt <br />the "silent sales" concept for restrooms. <br />- Assist public schools in developing a plan for long-term <br />water conservation in their facililies. <br />-Distribute infonnation and urge adoption of efficient <br />cooling systems. <br />
