At this time a loss
of from 10 to 15% per year is considered acceptable.

There are many unknown factors that must be estimated in figuring
"unaccounted for water loss", that is, water lost before it is
metered at the point of consumption.

1. Water used by the Wheat Ridge Fire Protection District
for fire fighting and training.

2. Water used during our fire hydrant maintenance program,
each spring and fall.

3. Water used to sanitize and flush newly installed main
lines.

4. Water main breaks.

The standard that the Wheat Ridge Water District has strived to
maintain is 10% or less, on an annual basis. The following pages
reflect the results of our operation since 1990.

Our goal in this area calls for a reduction of at least .5% per
year until we achieve a factor of no more than 3.75%.

-12-
