,

NWCCOG / CWCB WATER CONSERVATION MODEL
WATER CONSERVATION FIXTURE SURVEY RESPONSE EVALUATION

Two buildings in an condominium complex were surveyed for the model project. Building
200 was retrofitted with water conserving toilets, showerheads, and faucet aerators. Building
300 was used as the control and was not retrofitted. Surveys, printed on 4" by 6" cards
were left by the management in each of the building rooms prior to occupancy, and collected
by the management staff. The survey is reproduced at the end of this summary.

A numerical rating of the water fixtures was requested on a scale of 1 - 5 ( with 1 being
unacceptable and 5 being excellent). Other fixtures were also included (refrigerator and
stove), so as not to draw undue attention to the water conserving devices.

SURVEY RESULTS

Twenty-one questionnaires were returned: 15 from Building 200, 6 from Building 300. The
ratings for the water fixtures are listed below.

Building 200 5 4 3 2 1
(Retrofitted) Excellent Unacceptable
Toilets 7 3 3 2 0
Showerheads 5 4 5 1 0
Sink faucets 5 3 5 1 1
Comments concernm the :I1Xtures mCluc!ecI: to et hac! tenc!e nc to block two uestlonnau

g y (q es,
both rated 2); shower faucets dripped (one questionnaire, rated 1); sink faucets dnpped (two
questionnaires, rated 1 and 2).

Building 300 5 4 3 2 1
(Control) Excellent Unacceptable
Toilets 2 2 2 0 0
Showerheads 1 3 0 2 0
Sink faucets 1 1 4 0 0
Comments concernm the fixtures mcludecl: to et had tendenc to block (one questronnau

g y ~
rated 3); shower massager does not adjust (one questionnaire, rated 2); sink faucets dripped
(two questionnaires, both rated 3).
