-

.'

.

.

ANTICIPATED BENEFITS OF THIS PROJECT

The idea for this project came from discussion of pretreatment permitting issues combined
with a dramatic increase in water usage and water costs to the facility. Could something
be done in the areas of water use efficiency and waste water minimization to promote a
healthier business and environment? Coors Ceramics Company and the City of Golden
believe it is achievable.

This proposal is consistent with the City's approved Water Conservation Plan. The plan
exists to cultivate a water ethic among its residents and businesses by increasing public
awareness of water conservation measures through educational and cooperative efforts.
In the past, the primary focus of this plan has been to emphasize the issue of water
conservation with the general public and the City itself. Now the time is right to switch
the focus to businesses. Coors Ceramics Company, as the largest water consumer in the
City, is the logical starting point for water conservation improvements in the business
arena.

It is the City's intention to share any recommendations or project ideas with other local
Water Conservation groups and Pollution Prevention Programs. Additionally, the City
anticipates issuing a press release documenting the success of the project, thereby
encouraging other businesses to follow suit. Information regarding the project and its
success will be added to the City's water conservation public education program.

ESTIMATED TIME TO COMPLETION

One year after selection and commitment from independent auditor.
