.

.

MONITORING AND TRACKING

Coors Ceramics has committed full participation in an evaluation of their plant processes
and existing water use policies. They are currently the single largest industrial water user
in the City consuming approximately 10% of the City's total potable water supply. Water
is used in almost every step of their production process. Some in-house evaluation of
water loss through production, processing and spray drying operations is available. A
consultant will be asked to evaluate areas including but not limited to:

I. Water use through all phases of product manufacturing.
2. Water loss during washing and rinsing operations.
3. Evaporative losses due to cooling water processes.
4. General housekeeping practices.

Coors Ceramics is also committed to implementing any recommendations that are
financially feasible and could result in a cost reduction to the facility. Continued
monitoring and evaluation will be done to measure success of the recommended actions
in the following ways:

I. Continued evaluation of metered water consumption data to the plant against
wastewater discharge flow readings.
2. In house process flow monitoring, water consumption and loss evaluation.
3. Comparative cost analysis before and after implementation of any process
changes or modifications.
4. Coors Ceramics Company will provide a final report to the City and Colorado
Water Conservation Board.

The City will provide in-kind services that will benefit to the overall implementation of
this project, including co-administration of the grant, assistance with water and wastewater
flow monitoring and data analysis. The City will also provide information and contacts
from the Colorado State Pollution Prevention Program and the Colorado State University
Waste Minimization Program.
