>

City of Loveland
Water Conservation Grant
Workplan

'EtEIVElD)

JUL 0 1.1992

DEPARTMENT OF
NATURAL RESOURCES

I. Project Description

Volunteer auditors will conduct indoor water use assessments and
provide retrofit devices for approximately 500 single-family homes.
Water use statistics and water use habits before and after the retrofits
will be analyzed and compared with a control group of 500 non-par-
ticipating customers.

II. Goals/Objectives

The primary goal for this project is to increase the awareness of our
customers concerning the effectiveness of water conservation de-
vices for the home. Secondary benefits are:

· to help customers lower their water bills

. to extend the useful life of the City's water supply and
treatment facilities

. to collect data useful for evaluating a rebate program

III. Project planning
A. Water use data needed

1. A letter will be sent to 500 high consumption customers con-
cerning the availability of the program. The list of high con-
sumption customers has been compiled by the MIS
Department of the City using utility billing information. Sewer
bills in Loveland are customized for each customer, calculated
by averaging their water use during the months of December,
January and February. The list is based on this winter quarter
use figure.

The program will also be advertised through water billing in-
serts and in the Lovelarul Daily Reporter-Herald, Anyone inter-
ested in the participating in the program will be asked to apply
by filling out a simple questionnaire of demographic informa-
tion and returning it to the City,

2. A water use assessment form will be developed to record data
at the time of the home visit. A copy of the form will be left
with the household, Information on the form will include:
