I have given some thought to this and
organized a project proposal for the CWCB funds for water
efficiency demonstration projects. A draft outline of the
proposal is attached.

As you know, tourism has become one of the State's leading
industries. Many of the activities that attract tourists,
such as skiing, rafting and fishing, are dependant on the
availability of good water resources. NWCCOG believes the
resort communities that have evolved around those activities
and provide services to -individuals participating in them
should take a leadership role in protecting our water
resources. One straight-forward way to do this is by
developing water management plans to use water more
efficiently.

What NWCCOG is proposing is a tool to help resort
communities evaluate the potential benefits of investing in
water efficiency measures. There are indications that water
use rates may be substantially different in situations where
people are vacationing. We contemplate monitoring several
different kinds of resort housing for water consumption,
including that information in spreadsheet format for demand
management planning, and disseminating this tool to the
world renowned resort towns in our region, which include
Aspen, Breckenridge, Steamboat Springs, winter Park and
Vail.

Please look over the attached proposal and call me with your
thoughts.
