<br />IV. A REVIEW OF WATER USE EFFICIENCY MEASURES AS <br />SUGGESTED IN HOUSE BILL 1154 <br /> <br />The next nine (9) sections (A thru 1) in this plan are identical to those contained in <br />House Bill 1154. Each covered entity is directed to consider these items. The <br />actual wording in the Bill is, "In developing a plan pursuant to subsection (2) of this <br />section, each covered entity shall consider at least the following water-saving <br />" <br />measures: <br /> <br />A. Water-efficient fixtures and appliances, including toilets, urinals, <br />showerheads, and faucets: <br /> <br />The City of Pueblo has adopted the nationally recognized standards of the <br />Environmental Protection Agency Act of 1992. The maximum discharge flow rates <br />of all new plumbing fixture fittings installed in the City of Pueblo must be in <br />accordance with these standards. <br /> <br />* Water closets, (toilets) shall have an average consumption of not more than <br />1.6 gallons (6.1 liters) of water per flush. <br />* Urinals shall have an average water consumption of not more than <br />1.0 gallon (3.8 liters) of water per flush; with the exception of, and if approved <br />by Administrative Authority, blowout urinals which may be installed for <br />public use in stadiums, race courses, fairgrounds, and other structures used <br />for outdoor assembly and other similar uses. <br />* Showerheads shall be designed and manufactured so they will not exceed a <br />water supply flow rate of 2.5 gallons (9.5 liters) per minute. <br />Exception - Emergency safety showerheads may exceed this rate. <br />* Non-metered faucets (lavatory faucets) shall be equipped with aerators <br />and shall be designed and manufactured so they will not exceed a water flow <br />rate of 2.5 gallons (9.5 liters) per minute. <br />* Metered faucets (self-closing or self-closing metering faucets) shall <br />be installed in lavatories intended to serve the transient public, such as those <br />in, but not limited to, service stations, train stations, airports, restaurants <br />and convention halls. Metered faucets shall deliver not more than 0.25 <br />gallons (1.0 liter) of water per use. <br />* Kitchen faucets for kitchen sinks shall be equipped with aerators and shall <br />be designed and manufactured so they will not exceed a water supply flow <br />rate of 2.5 gallons (9.5 liters) per minute. <br /> <br />B. Low water-use landscapes and efficient irrigation: <br /> <br />The Board of Water Works of Pueblo, in concert with the City of Pueblo's <br />Planning Department conducts public reviews and updates of Pueblo's Landscape <br />Code on a regularly scheduled basis.
