<br />RECEI'JED <br />JMJ l:) 1997 <br /> <br />Colorc::co '~Vfi.:er <br />Conservation Board <br /> <br />NORTH WASHINGTON STREET WATER AND SANITATION DISTRICT <br /> <br />WATER CONSERVATION PLAN <br /> <br />In accordance with the requirements of Colorado Revised Statute 37-60- <br />106, the North washington Street Water and Sanitation District <br />(District) proposes the following "Water Conservation Plan." This <br />plan, when adopted shall become a part of the District Rules and <br />Regulations. <br /> <br />The Board of Directors of the North Washington Street Water and <br />Sanitation District promote the efficient use of water to assure the <br />adequate supply of water to existing and future water users of the <br />District. To achieve this goal the Board of Directors of the District <br />have developed a Water Conservation Plan meeting the requirements of <br />CRS 37-60-106. <br /> <br />The Water Conservation Plan considers the following measures: <br />l)Water Efficient Fixtures <br />2)Low Water Use Landscapes <br />3)Water-Efficient Industrial Processes <br />4)Water Reuse <br />5)Distribution System Leak Repair <br />6)Dissemination of Information <br />7)Water Rates <br />8) Regulatory Measures <br />9) Incentives <br /> <br />The District contracts with the Denver Water Department for a potable <br />water supply. Several water conservation measures are covered under <br />the Denver Plan are as follows: water-efficient fixtures, water- <br />efficient industrial processes, dissemination of information, and <br />incentives. Refer to the Denver Plan regarding these measures. <br /> <br />Low Water Use Landscapes and Efficient Irriqation <br /> <br />The District promotes the use of water conserving principles into the <br />planning, development, and management of both newly and renovated <br />commercial and industrial landscapes. All new commercial and <br />industrial customers that have landscaped areas and desiring water <br />service from the District shall submit to the District a landscape <br />plan that promotes water conservation. The landscape plan should <br />include xeriscaping and include the following: <br />a. landscape plan and design <br />b. limited turf area <br />c. efficient irrigation <br />d. soil improvement <br />e. mulching <br />f. use of drought tolerant or native plants <br />g. appropriate maintenance <br /> <br />Water Reuse Svstems <br /> <br />The Districts' contract with Metro Wastewater Reclamation District and <br />the Denver Water Department does not allow the District the reuse of <br />purchased water. <br />
