The District has more than 80 miles of water line ten inches in diameter or <br />larger, more than 100 miles of six-inch and eight-inch diameter water line, and more <br />than 70 miles of water line four inches in diameter or smaller. In addition, almost 6,000 <br />copper, polyethylene, and polybutylene service lines have been installed. The various <br />types of main water line installed have included steel, cast iron, ductile iron, transite, <br />PVC and copper. <br /> <br />The District's distribution system is in excellent condition. The Fort Collins - Loveland <br />Water District has an ongoing program of distribution system maintenance that <br />includes annual flushing of water lines, periodic valve maintenance, and prompt leak <br />repair. Along with the preventive maintenance program, the FCLWD also has an <br />aggressive program directed at replacing and upgrading the small lines in the District. <br /> <br />Individual service connections at each tap include a copper meter setter, check valve, <br />pressure regulator, shutoff valve and a water meter with a remote readout nearby. <br /> <br />-8 <br />
