<br />34--01,00 <br />/ . <br />',. 4979 . <br /> <br />AGREEMENT BEI'WEEN THE STATE OF COLORADO <br />AND <br />THE SOUTHWESTERN WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT OF COLORADO <br />FOR PERFORMING COOPERATIVE WEATHER MODIFICATION RESEARCH <br />ON PRECIPITATION MANAGEMENT IN THE STATE OF COLORADO <br /> <br />THIS AGREEMENT, made and entered into thss 15th day of February, <br />1977, by and between the State of Colorado acting by and through the <br />colorado Department of Natural Resources, hereinafter called the "State", <br />and the Board of Directors of the Southwestern Water Conservation, <br />District of Colorado, hereinafter called the HBoard\\. <br /> <br />WITNESSETH: <br />WHEREAS, Both the State of Colorado and the Board are interested <br />in acquiring and expanding knowledge on weather modification for <br />precipitation management and are interested in cooperating in performing <br />comprehensive weather modification research; and <br />WHEREAS, funds and other resources havc~ been made available to the <br />State by the BUreau of Reclamation, United States Department of the <br />InteLior, for weather modification research pursuant to contract <br />between the State and Bureau dated February 1, 1977 and attached hereto <br />as Exhibit .'A'I, and <br />WHEREAS, the State of Colorado through the Department of Natural <br />Resources is authorized to enter into cooperative agreements with sub- <br />divisions of local government and special districts for conducting <br />weather modification research; and <br />WHEREAS, it is to the advantage of the State and the Board to <br />initiate and perform research studies as set out below; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, for and in consideration of the premises and the <br />mutual covenants and promises of the parties hereinafter set forth, <br />it is hereby agreed as follows: <br /> <br />I. OBJECTIVES AND PROCEDURES <br /> <br />A. Obiectives <br />The objectives of this Agreement are to perform background hydro- <br />meteorological and environmental research studies and through these <br />studies to develop and assess institutional mechanisms for cooperative <br />research projects on cloud seeding for the winter season snowfall <br />in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. <br />B. Procedures <br />1. Background precipitation and other basic hydrometeorologicalj <br />environmental data at mutually agreed upon sites will be collected, <br />processed, and analyzed for planning studies and furnished in a computer <br />compatible form specified by the Bureau of Reclamation, United States <br />Department of the Interior. <br /> <br />-1- <br />
