<br />The local newspaper followed the discussions in regular Board meetings and the <br />following notice was formally published on May 21, 1996: <br /> <br />The City of La Junta Board of Utility Commissioners will consider adoption of a <br />water conservation plan at its regular meeting on June 11, 1996, at 4:00 p.m. in <br />the Municipal Building Council Chamber. The plan is available at the Water <br />Department Offices at 515 Lacey Avenue, La Junta or you may call 384-7358 to <br />obtain a copy. Key elements of the Plan include <br />revising plumbing codes for new construction, promoting the use of xeriscape, <br />studying water reuse options at the golf course, funding ongoing leak detection <br />and system repair, disseminating, water conservation information, completing a <br />study of the water rate structure, and continuing other water management <br />programs to conserve water. <br /> <br />The Plan is available at the Water Department Offices at 515 Lacey Avenue, La <br />Junta or you may call 384-7358 to obtain a copy. The public is encouraged to <br />review the Plan and provide written comments to Joe A. Kelley, P.O. Box 489, <br />La Junta, Colorado 81050 or comment at the Board meeting on July 9 or August <br />13. <br /> <br />Oral comments were received from several of the Commissioners and from the office of <br />the Colorado Board of Water Conservation. Recommended changes were incorporated <br />wherever possible. No other comments, written nor oral, were received. <br /> <br />10 <br />
