FROM

h2YW

.-----.--e-.-...

PHONE NO.

9631545

.

Jul. 20 1993 11:23PM P07

ORIGINATION OF THE IDEA FOR THIS PROJECT

The Roaring Fork Valley ,has a long history of being on the
cutting edge of innovation in environmental issues. Both
elected officials and their staffs work hard to preserve the
quality of life we enjoy and conserve the.natural resources
that help support, our local economy. This is why the Town of
Carbondale and City of Glenwood Springs implemented the 1992
water conservation program. Based on the success of this
effort, it was decided to expand the program to include all
residents in the Roaring Fork Forum service area.

MONITORING METHODS

The Roaring Fork Forum members have on record the monthly
water useage of each household. We will only select homes
that have meters so that we can monitor future consumption
patterns. Each participant will sign a consent form allowing
us to look at their water and utility bills. We will then be
able to track usage and savings, both water and financial,
before and after the project. For the participants, this
project will he most relevant as they compare their before
and after statements. Financially, their savings will be
great motivators to participate in the project and convince
other residents to do the same.
