FROIl1 hZYW

.

PHONE NO. 9631545

...

J~l. 20 1993 11:21PM P02

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

* Increase the efficient use of water
* Lower operating cos~s of treatment plants
by reducing the amount of waste water to treat
* Reduce utility bills and water use by saving hot water
needed for domestic use (showers and faucets)
* Promote community awareness of the need to conserve water
* Retrofit public facilities and increase the efficient use
of water by local governments in the Roaring Fork Forum
* Increase the efficient use of water in the tourist
accommodation sector by retrofitting multi-unit condominium
complexes

I'ROMOTION

We will encourage residents to participate in the project by
starting with an initial press release to the ,local
newspapers and radio stations. We will develop brochures
and flyers describing the project and how local residents
can participate. All of the local governments in the
Roaring Fork Forum area will be approached to see if they
will retrofit their publicly owned buildings. One of the
best marketing tools will be "word-of-mouth" in that we will
have referrals from the recipients of the 125 toilets that
have already been installed in the valley. We will also
approach the management and/or owners of multi~unit
condominiums if they would like to upgrade to more efficient
plumbing fixtures.

Only those households on water meters will be monitored under
this grant. The RFEC will make the water efficiency devices
available to other buildings that may not be metered. The
overall goal is to save water and we will take every opportunity
to do so.
