Irrigation systems <br /> <br />The district encourages all of its users, through notices in its newsletter, to use clock <br />operated. zoned irrigation systems, low gallonage sprinklers, and drip irrigation wherever <br />irrigation is required. <br /> <br />5. Commercialflndustrial processing <br /> <br />The district currently bas virtually no commercial/industrial processing plants and is not <br />zoned for any, therefore it does not have any water polley regarding those uses. <br /> <br />6. Distribution system leaks <br /> <br />The district currently has a low leakage rate of 9 %, It constantly monitors the difference <br />between the water it pumps from its wells and the amount of water it actually delivers <br />to be constantly aware of leakage losses. It maintains very strict construction standards <br />for all new water line construction which is rigidly inspected and enforced to maintain <br />the highest integrity of the water distribution system that is possible, Leaks that are <br />. detected are promptly repaired. <br /> <br />7. Dissemination of infol71llJtioll <br /> <br />The district has xerisca.pe books on display at the district office along with a <br />comprehensive bibliography of xeriscape films and books which are available at the <br />Douglas County Library. <br /> <br />District customers are informed through the District's newsletter that Denver Water, via <br />Channel 9 News, advises watering every third day and will advise how much water is <br />needed in the Denver area. each day. <br /> <br />District office landscaping is water efficient and has signs identifying the plants used. <br />Also the main Xerlscape Garden adjacent to the town hall is maintained by the District <br />as a public information tool. <br /> <br />The district publishes frequent articles in the newsletter explaining conservation <br />techniques. <br /> <br />Frank Jaeger, District Manager, instructs elementary classes (3-6) on water conservation, <br />water use and the cycle of water and conducts them on tours of the production and <br />treatment facilities.
