A LEVEL 4 DROUGHT STATUS HAS BEEN DECLARED

What does this mean? It means ALL outside lawn irrigation is BANNED.
This affects both Commercial and Residential outside lawn irrigation.

Effective Date: Thursday, July 11, 2002,

LEVEL 4 DROUGHT RESTRICTIONS INCLUDE:

1) All Outside Lawn Irrigation is Banned,
(Hand watering of flowers and plants with a spray nozzle attached to a hose is allowed)
2) Voluntary in-home water conservation methods are strongly encouraged.
(See the District's website for 49 examples, @ evergreenmetrodistrictcom)
3) Water use in excess of 14,999 gallons per billing period will be billed at a rate of $20,00 per
1,000 gallons of use, .
4) Fines will be levied against any customer who waters their lawn during the ban. Fines will
be $50.00 for the first offense, $100 second offense, $250 for a third offense and $500 for
subsequent offenses.

Background Information:
] The Evergreen Community is in the middle of the driest period ever recorded in the Bear Creek
Basin - with stream flows at 2,0% of average coming into Evergreen Lake, Outside irrigation
(both residential and commercial) continues to be the primary factor in higher water
consumption during the summer.

A Level 4 Drought has been declared as of July 11, 2002 due to the fact that the flow from Bear
Creek is insufficient to allow water to flow over the Evergreen Dam, Therefore, the District is
using its emergency supply: Evergreen Lake, The Level 4 Drought declaration will be
temporarily lifted once there is a continuous 24-hour flow over Evergreen Dam. Notices will be
posted on our website at www, evergreenmetrodistrictcom, on the District's answering machine,
and throughout the community. A Level 4 Drought Status will be automatically declared each
time water stops flowing over the Dam, so please bear with us and check the website and/or
other sources before watering.

When the Level 4 Drought Status is lifted, you may resume watering every third day,
following the District's schedule of DIAMOND, SQUARE, CIRCLE, listed in the Denver
papers and on the District's website,

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this difficult time.

Contact us at 303-674-8820 extension 13 for daily updates.
