Water Savings from Plumbing Retrofits

A report on plumbing retrofit projects6 estimated annual savings of 3,900 and 1,170
gallons per household in two cities that were studied.

Large Landscape Conservation Programs and Incentives

Description

Landscape conservation programs provide site-specific information to large irrigation
users on how to modify existing irrigation schedules to eliminate wasteful practices. This
is achieved by conducting individual landscape audits. The program's purpose is to
increase irrigation efficiency and reduce annual and peak demand days.

Water Savings from Landscape Audits

A search of the A WW A Waternet database found 7 papers on large area landscape audits
although none contained empirical data on savings from the programs. According to
HDR Engineering,7 it is reasonable to assume water savings of 15 percent for each large
landscaped area that is audited. In 1996, Thornton had 254 large accounts having an
annual average delivery of 4.3 acre-feet of water. The 15 percent savings amounts to
211,000 gallons annually per account.

High Efficiency Washing Machine Rebates

Description

This program saves both water and energy. The utility offers cash incentives to
customers to install these machines based on the marginal value of water saved.

Water Savings from High Efficiency Washing Machines

Several studies have been done to estimate savings from high efficiency washing
machines.
