One of the possibilities that came up was to p~rsue partnerships as a way to
increase the quantity and quality of service that can be offered to Coloradans throughout
the state. When the decision was made to pursue partn:~rships as an option to expand
our services, many opportunities seem to present thems~lves.
"I
.,
Following is a listing of some of the partnerships that oli{.c has been involved with:
. -. .
"
~
. Partnership with the Colorado Water Conservation AII\ance (CWCA). CWCA consists
of people from a variety of water related industries coming together to discuss water
conservation concerns. CWCA was looking for a pioject that would offer resource
information on a state-wide basis. OWC offered an outline for a water resources book-
,
let (Water: Colorado's Precious Resource) to CWCA ~nd agreed to co-chair and pro-
vide limited dollars. 15,000 copies were published an~ over 10,000 copies have been
distributed throughout the state. .~
. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Divi~ion of Wildlife: following the co-
I
development of a five-year aquatic resource education; plan, approved by the U.S. Fish
and Wildlife Service. Funds were secured for watersh~d education, Project WET, adult
education and materials. l. . . .
. A cooperative agreement was signed between q'yvC and the National Energy
Foundation following the receipt of grant funds from the Bureau of Reclamation.
These funds provide a pilot water wise education p(ogram for 4th and 5th graders
throughout the state. Funding will be used to provi,~e curriculum, teacher training, .
videos and a retro-fit kit to every student participating):
. MOU with the Bureau of Reclamation (BOR): to provi~e water use efficiency planning
for the federal project water users within our state withr)ut duplicating efforts of our cur-
rently legislated program. The MOU provides statewide commitment by the three BOR
regions in the state to agree on what will be required ..by all three agencies.
. MOU with AIJINVA WaterWiser Clearinghouse: partner~hip to increase access to water
conservation information for Coloradans by being able to have access to a 800 tele-
phone number, Web site and a much expanded information resource base.
)11
j
Interacting with other agencies (federal, private and non2.f" rofit) has provided us a way to
enhance the wheel rather than creating a new one. f:. .
,
Ii
\'
~
Y
f
