Little Thompson Water District <br />Received Grant for <br />Resource library <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />l1e Uttle Thompson Water DIs- <br />trict recently received a <br />$5,000 grant to establish a <br />water conservation resource U- <br />bnuv for chlldren and adults. <br /> <br />The Colorado Water Conservatlon Board <br />awarded the money to purchase books, CO- <br />Roms and video tapes about home water <br />conselVatlon and Xerlscape gardening. <br />The Dlsbict Is working. on the resource <br />llbrary with the Berthoud Public Ubrary. The <br />Berthoud Ubrary will devote a grouping of <br />shelves to the materials, says director Roberta <br />Depp. Several hundred books will be or- <br />dered. <br />"It's kind of tough to flnd Xerlscape ma- <br />terials," said Depp. "Boulder and Denver <br />(libraries) have some, but no one has a really <br />large collection." <br />Next year, Depp hopes to list Berthoud's <br />collectlon on ACUN, a state-wide library data <br />base. Ubrary users from all over the state <br />then would be able to borrow materials <br />through the interlibrary Loan System. <br />The 5,SOO-square-foot Berthoud Public <br />Ubrary Is located at 236 Welch Avenue, be- <br />side the Berthoud Community and Senior <br />Center. An opening receptlon for people to <br />check out the resource area Is planned in <br />July. The public will be invited. In the <br />meantime, the library and the District are <br />promoting the addition to their users. <br />The Uttle Thompson Water District <br />SelVes users in larimer, Weld and Boulder <br />counties, Including Berthoud, Longmont, <br />Johnstown, Mead, Milliken and Loveland. Its <br />boundaries stretch from Just north of Long- <br />mont to Loveland and from Carter Lake to <br />. the South Platte RIver. ... <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />RMSAWWA/RMWEA <br /> <br /> <br />12 ocky Mountain Sectlon member <br />Ken Carlson has won the fIrst <br />place AWWA Academic <br />Achievement Award for the best <br />PhO dissertation of 1996. The award was <br />presented by Jack Hofbuhr of the AWWA <br />at the national conference in June. The <br />title of Dr. Carlson's dissertation Is "Optimi- <br />zation of the Ozone and Bloflltratlon <br />ProcesseS for Multiple Water Treatment Ob- <br />jectlves.
