<br />j <br />] <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />The Left Hand Water District's Conservation Master Plan was written for <br />the following reasons: <br /> <br />Colorado HBl154 requires that a water conservation plan be <br />developed and implemented by July I, 1996. <br /> <br />To formulate a plan to help mitigate the impacts to the water <br />system of the increased per tap consumption during peak months for <br />landscape irrigation. <br /> <br />To prolong the adequacy of existing water resources. <br /> <br />To demonstrate the District's commitment to responsible, <br />environmentally sound, and efficient use of natural resources. <br /> <br />To create an awareness among the public that we live in a semi-arid <br />climate. <br /> <br />To ensure the efficient use of our water systems infrastructure to <br />meet the needs of a growing population. <br /> <br />The process of developing the Left Hand Water District's water <br />Conservation Plan included the core plan developed by staff, <br />incorporating the comments and recommendations of a volunteer Water <br />Conservation Committee. The master plan will serve as a work plan for <br />the District's conservation program. Notice was published and copies of <br />the plan were made available for pUblic comment. The plan was adopted <br />by the Board of Directors following a public hearing at their June 11, <br />1996 meeting. <br /> <br />The plan identifies water conservation measures and goals for the <br />District and its customers on an on going basis. <br /> <br />We would like to extend our thanks to--the citIzens and staff who made up <br />our committee, for their time and effort in helping us create this plan. <br /> <br />1 <br />
