.

.

.

summary

There has been very positive feedback from teachers, students,
and the school principal regarding this project. The foundation
of the project has been established and now teachers and students
can add to and use the trail as an outdoor learning lab.

Most of the problems on this project had to do with time. There
were too many competing interests for a limited amount of time
and talent to complete the project in the time frame we had
originally planned. In fact, the project took eighteen months
longer that originally anticipated. If we were to do this
project again, given what we learned, we would most certainly do
it, but we do not believe we could have accelerated the time
frame much faster than what was accomplished. There is too much
competition for volunteers time. One way to accelerate this
would be to contract the work out but some student involvement
would be lost if this were done.

The sequence of construction varied from our original plan but
this proved to be no problem. The thing that we were diligent on
was obtaining the concurrence and approval of the school
administration prior to the various phases.

Our original intent was to have more community involvement. The
reason this did not occur to a greater extent was probably three
fold: the time constraints people have, us not pursuing this more
aggressively, and most importantly ( we think) the public
perception that this was a school project.
