GOAL
REUSE OF NON-POTABLE AND POTABLE WATER

The overriding ~onsiderJtion in developing any reuse system is that the quality of the reclaimed
water be appropriate for its intended use. A reuse program must assure that public health
protection is not compromised.

BEST MANAGEMENT PRACTICES

1. PreparE~ comprehensive analvsis of options. includine: reuse. when developine: new
water supplies and resources

Status: Reuse is currently practiced through the exchange and storage of water rights
with legal reuse rights. Alternative water sources (including source substitution and
reclaimed water) are considered when developing water supply for new and/or expanded
development. Dual distribution systems. direct potable water reuse, and residential gray
water systems are not currently considered cost effective alternatives.

Implementation: On-going. Expand as considered necessary.

25
