Also, they were made aware of the <br /> <br />cost and effort necessary to purify contaminated water. <br /> <br />D. Social Responsibility: <br /> <br />The El Paso Soil Conservation District sponsors an <br /> <br />annual soil and water conservation poster contest for all <br /> <br />sixth grade students. <br /> <br />In 1994 and 1995 we joined this <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />contest. A representative from the district came to the <br /> <br />school and lectured the students on the importance of <br /> <br />conservation. Next, all of the students were required to <br /> <br /> <br />construct a poster on water conservation meeting the rules <br /> <br /> <br />of the poster contest. They received a grade on the poster <br /> <br />and it was then entered into the District contest. <br /> <br />In 1994 <br /> <br />one of my students won $50 (second place) in the contest. <br /> <br />LPMS will be an annual participant in future poster <br /> <br />contests. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />E.
