Education

Description of Conservation Measure:
Dissemination of information regarding water use efficiency measures, including public education,
customer water use audits, and water saving demonstrations

Existing Conditions:
The education of water users is essential in any water conservation plan. Measures that are currently
in place include providing information to the customers in the form of a Newslettersent out three
times a year, and the donation of books on conservation to the local library in 1993.

Future Implementations:
Measures to be implemented will expand on the current procedures. Willows Water District
will continue to disseminate information about water wise irrigation and xeriscaping. The District
is considering the development of a Web page to allow customer access to obtain information about
the Willows Water District system and water conservation. Additionally, the page may include an
electronic version of the Newsletter, the goals of Willows Water District, information on benefits of
retro fitting water fixtures in the house and public seminars sponsored by the District. Tips on how
the consumer can save with indoor and outdoor water use may also be included on the page. The
page may include other items which can be added at the time of implementation or as modifications
are made.
