Put water-conserving rates into effect.

:;

There are several types of water-conserving rates, each with different advantages and
disadvantages, and appropriate for different situations. Among the options are increasing
block rates, seasonal rates, demand charges, and excess use surcharges.

It should be noted that any increases in metered rates would discourage customers from
volunteering for a meter, which is counter to our current efforts. On the other hand, it
is possible that the flat rate could be increased, in order to increase the number of
volunteers for meters.

One reason for not changing the rates, for the next several years anyway, is that the
constancy would allow us to, (1) draw conclusions about the effectiveness of the rates for
motivating meter volunteers, and (2) establish an accurate databaSe for water-use and
revenue associated with a particular rate.

-----~~--------
----~---

--~------------

13
