DNR COLORADO
CO g Colorado Water
Conservation Board
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman Street, Room 718
Denver, Co 80203
Memorandum
To: Greg Johnson, Water Supply Planning Section Chie
From: Kevin Reidy a Ben Wade
Water Supply Planning
Date: January 24, 2019
Subject: Water Efficiency Grant Fund Recommendation for the Town of Eagle
Recommendation:
The Water Supply Planning staff recommends that Greg Johnson, Section Chief,
approve a Water Efficiency Grant to develop a Water Efficiency Plan in the amount of
$29,962 for the Town of Eagle.
Summary of Grant Application
The Town of Eagle is a non-covered entity in the Colorado River Basin using surface water to
provide service to its customers as well as serve its "out of town" tourist population. Eagle's
permanent population is estimated to increase by 1.9% through 2028 but is not likely to
become a covered entity in the next several years. Beyond a growing population, the Town's
water supplies are also susceptible to the current drought in the Colorado River Basin system,
wildfire and landslide.
The Town of Eagle estimates the water savings for this Plan will be a reduction in system wide
water use by 10% or 127 acre-feet through 2023.
The total cost of the project is $40,922. Eagle is committing 27% matching funds in the
form of $5,000 of in-kind services and $5,960 in cash. CWCB staff has reviewed and
evaluated the grant application and has determined that the proposal meets or
exceeds the CWCB guidelines for reviewing grant proposals. Attached is the internal
checklist used to evaluate the application.
Attachment: Evaluation Checklist
