the existing water supply system and historical water demands, and integrated planning and water
efficiency benefits and goals have been completed under budget. This will allow for additional project
management given the extend project duration, while staying within the overall budget.
Major Findings
The City has been engaged throughout the development of the WEP Project, including vertical integration
within the Public Works Department, along with my input as the City Manager. The current focus of the
WEP Project will be to prioritize and finalize the ultimate water efficiency activities selected through the
WEP Project, including the review by the Public and City Council, so that the City's WEP Report contains
realistic and actionable items that will be completed within the WEP Project implementation period. The
key water efficiency measures will include necessary capital improvement projects to reduce the amount of
the City's water losses, and targeting activities that will address large consumers, such as the City's golf
course.
Remaining Steps and Anticipated Schedule
The City and SGM are working to finalize the analyses and the initial draft of the WEP Report by January
19, 2018. Once the initial draft is completed, SGM and the City will present the initial draft to the City
Council by the first week of February, 2018. Based upon the outcome of the City Council meeting, the
public review and comment period will likely take place between February and mid-April, such that the
final Plan can be prepared for submittal to the CWCB by April 27,2018, depending on the comments
received and City Council's schedule.
The City and SGM anticipate preparing the 75%Progress Report to the CWCB by the middle of January
2018. Thank you for your support and funding of the City's Water Efficiency Plan Project. We are
thankful for the historical amount of water conservation we've achieved, and are excited looking forward
to the implementation of our upcoming Water Efficiency Plan.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
Respectfully,
Forrest H.Neuerburg
City of Monte Vista, City Manager
Cc: Mr.Jordan Dimick, SGM
